Read this before relying on anything on this site.
Everything published on howitheals.com is general educational information. It is not medical advice, it is not a diagnosis, and it does not establish a practitioner–patient relationship between you and How It Heals.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 000 (Australia) or go to your nearest emergency department.
What this site is
This site exists to help women understand the lived experience of their symptoms, the labs we use in functional medicine, and the way we approach women’s health at How It Heals. The content draws on peer-reviewed research, clinical experience, and the practice frameworks of our practitioners.
What this site is not
It is not a substitute for individualised assessment. It is not a guarantee of any outcome. It is not a recommendation that you start, stop, or change any medication, supplement, diet, or treatment. It is not a replacement for the advice of your GP, specialist, or registered allied health professional.
Always consult a qualified practitioner
Before changing your medications, supplements, diet, exercise routine, or sleep regime — or acting on any information you read on this site — please consult a qualified practitioner who knows your medical history and current circumstances. That is true even if the information here is consistent with what you have heard from your doctor.
Individual results vary
Where we describe protocols, testing pathways, expected timelines (for example, “most clients have a measurable shift in energy inside four to six weeks once the actual driver is addressed”), or client outcomes, we are describing patterns we have observed in clinical practice. Your individual results will depend on your physiology, history, environment, and adherence, and may differ.
Off-label, complementary, and unregistered substances
Some of the supplements and interventions discussed on this site are complementary or alternative therapies that may not be approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) for the indication described. Where this is the case it is by design — functional medicine often uses nutritional and lifestyle interventions outside the conventional pharmaceutical model. This does not mean the interventions are unsafe; it means they are not approved drugs and should be used under qualified guidance.
Functional pathology testing
The functional tests we discuss (DUTCH, ENDOmap, HTMA, GI-MAP, OAT, DNA panels, comprehensive bloods, CGM, and others) are pathology tools used in functional medicine. Most are not Medicare-rebated. They are not substitutes for the screening tests your GP orders. Where appropriate we work alongside your GP’s pathology, not in place of it.
Third-party content
Where we link to research papers, news articles, or other websites, we do so for educational reference. Linking is not endorsement of the broader content of the linked site.
Practitioner registration
How It Heals practitioners are registered with their respective professional bodies and hold current professional indemnity insurance. Registration details are available on request.
